High passenger numbers for the 2012 season has sparked Air New Zealand to schedule another Auckland-Denpasar service next year.
A Boeing 767-300 aircraft will operate twice weekly non-stop Auckland – Denpasar services for from 1 June to 15 October. This is three weeks longer than the 2012 season, again reflecting demand.
Air New Zealand Group General Manager Australasia Bruce Parton says New Zealanders have jumped at the opportunity to get to Bali and figures for this winter show a 38% increase in Kiwis travelling to the island compared with the 2011 winter.
“Our direct service to Denpasar is a hassle free and considerably quicker alternative to options offered by other carriers, which often involve lengthy layovers and total journey times ranging anywhere from 14 to 24 hours.”
The inaugural 2013 flight will depart on Saturday 1 June subject to regulatory approvals.
In April, Indonesian airline Garuda announced ti would resume direct flights from Auckland to Jakarta once market conditions improved and the airline’s new Boeing A330 wide-body jets arrived.
