Additional flights to New Zealand shows strong market response for impending Honolulu to Auckland service

Hawaiian Airlines  are increasing the number of flights from three to four per week during the peak period of September 19 to October 11.that due to strong demand for their impending service connecting Auckland and Honolulu.

The Auckland to Honolulu service, which is scheduled to commence on March 13, will provide an extra four flights to the schedule during school holidays, a peak travel time for Kiwi travellers.

Glenn Wedlock, Auckland Airport General Manager Aeronautical Commercial, says it is fantastic that Hawaiian Airlines have made the decision to add more flights to the route before the service has even commenced as it indicates strong levels of demand.

“This is a new service that has started exceptionally well and is experiencing such a great response due to the popularity of the destination as well as the popularity of the airline,” says Wedlock.

“This outcome shows just how eagerly the new service has been embraced by New Zealanders wanting to visit Hawaii, as well as travellers from Hawaii and the U.S. mainland wishing to come and experience New Zealand. t is a great result for consumers as there are now more flights available for the service but it is equally a good result for NZ inbound tourism as we reach into new markets.

“The fact that the demand for this service has warranted additional flights before it has even started verifies that there is a strong appetite out there for this type of service,” continues Mr Wedlock. “It also highlights the capability of Hawaiin Airlines at selling New Zealand as a tourist destination to its audience of over 2.8 million frequent flyers.”

Hawaiin Airlines new service will commence on 13 March 2013 with thrice-weekly nonstop services between Honolulu and Auckland increased to four flights per week during the peak period of September 19 to October 11.  For further information please go to www.HawaiianAirlines.com.
