2021 – Project Auckland: Catalysts for Growth

In the 2021 Project Auckland report we looked at how the construction sector has been navigating constraints from Covid-19, including border restrictions, workforce and materials supply.

The report provided an update on Auckland’s housing supply issues and looked at the driving role of Kainga Ora in increasing the pace of development.

We heard from Infrastructure and Transport Minister Grant Robertson on what’s in store for Auckland’s economic recovery, transport infrastructure projects and what he sees as the key priorities.

We looked at the upcoming transport infrastructure projects changing the way we’ll use the city in the futureĀ  including City Rail Link and the Auckland Transport downtown programme.

With the Labour Government returned with a majority and a mandate, we consider what this meant for the timeline of Auckland’s light rail project and the possible relocation of Auckland’s port.

We spoke to Mayor Phil Goff on the challenges he faces in the recovery of the city in the wake of Covid-19 as well as getting his personal views on the stresses and strains faced as NZ’s largest city’s Mayor.

We also covered some of the newest projects hitting the city including a new urban island on the North Shore and huge new projects planned for the CBD.
