U2’s Bono terrified fiscal cliff could lead to 65,000 deaths – What’s he on now?

U2’s Bono sits down with World Bank President Jim Young Kim to talk about what’s needed to end poverty. Bono estimates that the billions of dollars of tax hikes and potential funding cuts in the US could affect  275,000 people and lead to around 65,000 deaths.  The figures come from the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

Bono said based on conversations he has had with political leaders, he’s optimistic. “We know there are going to be cuts …We understand that.  But not cuts that cost lives.

“I’m still terrified of the fiscal cliff  …I’m at least encouraged that programs that are working will not be cut.”

Bono talks about the fiscal cliff at the 25:55 mark.
