Biography

Tony Wei has a strong commitment to support Kiwi SMEs and smooth their pathway to one of their largest global markets – China. Tony founded The China Hub Inc. in partnership with The Icehouse with the core vision to assist Kiwi businesses with hands-on and practical assistance with China trade development and market entry.

Tony embraces the “lean start-up” business philosophy and execution through validated learnings. The China market is highly dynamic, complex and influenced by non-economic factors, one needs to look before they leap.

Prior to founding The China Hub Inc., Tony was the head of the China Market Development Hub at The Icehouse assisting high tech companies entering China, earlier career history also included various business development and project management roles with VC firms, Tech Transfer Offices and at government levels.

Tony has experienced the real China since the 80s and is bicultural having living experience in both nations, he values his Chinese root but embraces his unique Chinese Kiwi attitude when it comes to bridging the two worlds. Tony has a BSc in Pharmacology and a MBE in Science Commercilisation, he has a strong passion for entrepreneurship and a caring interest for New Zealand’s growing relationship with China.
