Biography

David is Managing Director and CEO of McConnell Group. McConnell Group is one of New Zealand’s leading property, construction and infrastructure groups and includes McConnell Property, Hawkins Construct ion, Hawkins Infrastructure, Steelpipe and Harker Underground Construction.

His considerable business experience across property, construction and infrastructure is combined with a passion for harnessing better thinking to create ‘service and delivery leadership’ and effective teamwork around business management, business development and business partnering.

David is Chair of Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Develeopment (ATEED), Deputy Chair of Committee for Auckland and Chairs the University of Auckland’s Business School Advisory Board. He is a past Board member of Mighty River Power and past Deputy Chair of Telstra Clear Events Centre. In 2006 he received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award and in 2008 was a recipient prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship. David has been involved in numerous civic and community initiatives during the past 10 years, including assisting Auckland and New Zealand’s Economic Development agenda, education improvements in secondary and tertiary, and leadership development. David has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from Canterbury University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management,Northwestern University, Chicago. Past roles has seen David work for Booz-Allen Hamilton Inc, and Morrison Knudsen on Knudsen Corporation in Honolulu.
