The founder of blissmo,?Sundeep Ahuja is an impressive entrepreneur out of Silicon Valley. Boasting extensive experience in crowd sourcing, the ex-Product Manager at both eBay and My Space caught up with newzealandinc.com before the event kicked off.

Sundeep didn’t make any secret of the fact that New Zealand was something that had been on his to-do list for a while,??I?ve been wanting to come here for some time and being able to visit as part of the Geeks on a Plane delegation is a huge honour.?

?My knowledge of New Zealand is partly through the discovery the world has seen through the movies and partly the discover yof the country and how it has been growing.?

On the business side of things, Sundeep was undoubtedly one of the more on to it visiting geeks.??I know the NZ government is doing a lot to encourage job creations, particularly in the technology industry and in innovation. Through financial sponsorships for example and events they put on like Geeks on a Plane. It?s great to see what?s being done here.?

A recurring theme we heard from the visiting geeks was how impressed they were with the diversity of New Zealand ?companies which they had seen, a sentiment echoed by Ahuja.??I?ve been surprised both by some of the more technical web and technology companies as well as some of the non-tech based innovation coming out of New Zealand.?

New Zealand’s start-up environment has clearly impressed the visiting geek.??I find myself asking myself a lot whilst I?ve been here ?What sparked that innovation?? New Zealand has shown me that it?s clearly a very entrepreneurial country.?

?The approach to innovation in New Zealand seems to follow an approach to innovation that asks ‘Why?’ instead of ?’Why not?’ ?which is really at the heart of entrepreneurship.?
