Fran and I have just returned from an amazing day with some of the leading figures in developing Beijing-Hollywood. I’ll keep my remarks brief as I wouldn’t want to spoil the video that will go up on the site in the coming days.
We began the day at the magnificent Star Lake Resort – a newly built, luxury facility that will host the Beijing Film Forum later this year – headlined by none other than Russell Crowe.
Following a tour and a fascinating discussion about the Chinese film industry with investors Joshua Tan and Tony An, we were treated to a stunning banquet in the resort owner’s private dining area. Joshua pulled out all the stops for us, bringing along a entourage of producers, actresses, and investors, an eclectic group who made for an unforgettable meal.
We then made our way to the afternoon portion of the day which featured a site visit and a meeting with Chinese Television executives.
It was a real shame when we were dropped back this evening, drawing a superb day to a close. Tomorrow is sure to be a bit more intense as Fran and I attend the Economist’s China Summit 2013. Fran is wearing her hat as deputy chairman of PECC (NZ) and I’ll be popping on my assistant badge as we both take on different roles for the day.
