Today is the last day here in Shanghai – time for a few more interviews and some relaxation before getting back in the air tomorrow.
I met Lena Skandera, a Duke alum who grew up in small town New Zealand, now a project manager in the investment sector here in Shanghai. She gave an interesting interview, in particular the challenges of managing the one child generation.
I filmed an interview for Fran in the afternoon, before taking some time off to finish up and consolidate all of the work from the trip.
The trip was supposed to be finished up with a Friday night drinks at NZ Central but I managed to (as usual) get lost in Shanghai. Not exactly the brightest move as by the time I found my way there it had mostly wrapped up. Typical.
A nice dinner to wrap up the trip and a not too late Friday night.
We’re out of here early tomorrow – leaving the hotel at 6:30am as Fran heads home to Wellington while I’m off to Korea for a few days.
It’s been a great couple weeks here in China. I’ve learned a huge amount and certainly have a new appreciation for the place. Experiencing the Chinese culture, both personally and in business, adds a sense of colour and more informed understanding that couldn’t be learned any other way. I’ve also met a number of great people out here who have been awfully generous with their time and knowledge for which I’m immensely grateful.
